Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Trinamool Congress MLA Vivek Gupta is facing fresh allegations of forcibly taking over a venue booked by the Bara Bazar Sarbojanin Shri Shri Kali Puja Committee for a Sit and Draw Art Competition in Mahendra Maharshi Devendra Road – Posta. The committee, which had obtained an official Kolkata Municipal Corporation receipt, had scheduled the event for Sunday. However, Gupta’s team is allegedly proceeding with the MLA Cup at the same location, leading to a dispute between organizers and his supporters.
Locals claim the committee had made prior arrangements, but despite this, the venue is being used for the MLA Cup. Organizers are demanding authorities take action to ensure their event is not disrupted. The controversy follows previous allegations against Gupta regarding cut money during Saraswati Puja, adding to tensions. The matter has sparked local outrage, with residents questioning political interference in community events.
